In the scene, Desdemona is looking for Cassio so she can speak to him about the whole situation and even tell him that she spoke to Othello. Instead, she comes across the clown who isn't too eager to help with her task. She asks where Cassio's room is, but Clown admits he doesn't know, but says if he gave her an answer he'd be lying. Clown goes on to say that soldiers stab people who lie about them.

Desdemona then goes somewhere else where Emilia is. They talk about Othello's jealousy, but it gets worse when Othello shows up and demands to see the handkerchief, but she claims that she lost it. Othello says that it was the gift his father gave his mother when they first married, claiming that if she lost it or gave it away, he would no longer love him and would want to find someone else to love. Desdemona says she'll find it and he leaves.

Iago comes and starts trouble, saying that he will try to calm Othello and try to figure out why he's so jealous when in reality he's making up the entire thing for his own personal gain.

After everyone else leaves, Cassio has a woman named Bianca make him a handkerchief that will look identical to Desamona's (who he doesn't know it belongs to him), since he found it in his room but he finds it absolutely stunning and would want to give it to someone he loves.
