Lesson 7: Irony

1.) The example of irony is that the readers know that Juliet is dead while Romeo does not. It makes it sadder that he kills himself when she in fact isn't.

2.) Dramatic irony brings much more drama and suspense to the passage/novel. The fact that the readers know that what the character is doing is not needed or pretty much the wrong thing to do, is harder to read/watch making it even better.

3.) My favorite scene of dramatic irony in a book/movie is in the outsiders when Dally pulls a gun on the store clerk and on the police, but everyone except for them know it's empty. The sad irony is when the police shot and kill Dally when he pulls the gun out on them, despite the rest of the gang yelling that it's empty and not loaded.
