Focus Lessons: Lesson 4 Dialogue

1.) Sophia's emotion is a mix of confusion and fright. It shows/suggests that she started feeling this way when the woman left her by herself. I also think she isn't comfortable with her mother yet enough to be around her.

2.) Her mom wants to like her and wants her to be happy. She eve "spins her like a top" at one point to show her some fun. She's also very caring b/c she takes good care of Sophia while they're stuck.

3.) Without dialogue, this passage would be boring, confusing, and the readers wouldn't be interested. The fact that the mom does all the talking and sophia never speaks is very telling. It shows more emotion and dianamics throughout the passage.
